Staff Accountant

Controltec, Inc. is hiring a Staff Accountant. In this position you will be required to manage and perform all functions for accounts payable, payroll, and various ad hoc responsibilities and projects for our company accurately and efficiently. Assist with current transition from QuickBooks Desktop to NetSuite. Controltec provides multiple product lines and maintains a presence (employees and customers) in multiple states.


Job Duties:


Accounts Payable


Perform all work for full-cycle accounts payable (vendor invoices, expense and petty cash reports, bank and credit card statements).

  • Verify, research, reconcile, and resolve discrepancies.
  • Code for proper job costing and/or expense accounts.
  • Process and enter in NetSuite, and file, all documents in a timely manner.
  • Process weekly “check” runs.
  • Analyze, investigate, and correct accounting entries as needed.
  • Provide professional and timely customer service to vendors, management, and co-workers.
  • Assist with month-end close.
  • Prepare/enter journal entries for, reconcile, and maintain certain GL accounts monthly, such as fixed assets, depreciation, accrued prepaids and payroll, tax liabilities, etc.
  • Prepare periodic sales and use tax returns for various states.
  • Assist with annual vendor and tax audits.
  • Assist with inventory tracking and create build assemblies in NetSuite as needed.
  • Process annual 1099s.




Perform all work associated with the functions of a payroll administrator.

  • Manage timesheet/job costing system and assist with problems or employee inquiries.
  • Review timesheets for proper coding and/or corrections.
  • Submit payroll to NetSuite Payroll biweekly.
  • Manage the NetSuite payroll service to ensure they submit all payroll-related returns/payments to the proper agencies by the required deadlines.
  • Reconcile insurance benefit invoices and paycheck deductions monthly. Liaise with HR to verify information and changes as needed.
  • Upload IRA contributions, and employee garnishments, biweekly as required by law.
  • Confirm and pay monthly sales commissions.
  • Other duties as required.




Minimum of 5 years of experience with accounts payable, payroll, and general ledger. Proficiency with the double-entry accounting system and familiarity with GAAP. Proficiency with mathematics and electronic filing/organization.


Minimum of intermediate level of skill with NetSuite, QuickBooks, Microsoft Excel, and computers overall. Familiarity with QuickBooks Time (formerly TSheets) a plus.

This job can be remote, with the option of working from our Escondido office if desired. Remote workers are required to have a dedicated home office space.
